Dr. Mitakides is a leading expert in the field of treatment of TMJ and craniofacial pain, including TMJ in conjunction with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. He is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, the highest level of professional accreditation awarded by the AACFP, which is the largest professional organization dedicated to TMJ.  He also serves on the Professional Advisory Board of the Ehlers-Danlos National Foundation. At the TMJ Treatment Center, Dr. Mitakides is supported by a diverse team of professionals, including two patient care assistants who are dually TMJ-Certified and Expanded Function Dental Assistants, the highest level of training from the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain and the State of Ohio.

Dr. Mitakides is licensed for the practice of dentistry in both Ohio and Texas, and is on the staff of Kettering Medical Center and he is on the staff of Cincinnati Childrens Hospital.
