WHEN: Tuesday, March 17, 20155  at 7:30-9:30pm, EST

TOPIC:  “The Feldenkrais Method & other Somatic Approaches to Improve Function and Ease”

PRESENTER:   Cynthia Allen, GCFP,  STMI

Cynthia Allen is the  Chief Executive Officer of Integrative Learning Center of Mid America in Cincinnati, Ohio.

In this webinar, Cynthia Allen will introduce you to three bodies of work from the somatic education field: the Feldenkrais Method, Bones for Life and Walk for Life. She will lead listeners through short but powerful movement lessons to demonstrate how rapidly physical organization can change when the brain is given the sensory information it craves.

At the heart of the somatic approach is the concept of the body as an integral part of the mind and brain. In fact, there is no real separation between these aspects. Key then is not only our quality of cognition or muscle strength, but also, how we perceive ourselves and experience our movements from moment-to-moment.

The spectrum of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome is wide. Yet with all syndromes, diseases or injuries, we can experience improvement by improving the mind-brain-body conversation. As the quality of movement and perception increases, the brain gains vital information to use in the innumerable details it controls, including assignment of pain or pleasure and even how to walk from here to there.
